ProSeries All-in-One

Everything in a single 7-inch touchscreen — the siren, the camera and the radio are all in it. Wireless only, encrypted, up to a mile of range. For a new build or a house with nothing in the walls, where there is no wiring to keep.

Before you price any of this: if there is already a DSC, Honeywell VISTA, Qolsys or 2GIG panel in the building, tell us. Keeping it and changing who monitors it is often the cheaper answer, and we will say so. This page is for a system that is not there yet — a new build, a house with nothing on the wall, or a panel too old to be worth keeping.

πŸ›‘ Beyond intrusion: every system can include monitored fire, smoke, CO, flood, freeze, medical, and panic protection β€” all under one monthly plan.First Alert Premier Pro Partner
Already have a system?

Do not start from a package. Start from the panel on your wall.

Most alarm panels made in the last twenty-five years can be kept. A Resideo communicator goes on the one you already own, the phone line goes away, and on a VISTA or First Alert panel you get the Total Connect app on hardware that was never built for it — arm and disarm from your phone, zone status, notifications.

$16.99 a month, $12.99 for the first year, and the work quoted once we know what is on your wall. The one question that decides it is whether your panel can talk on a data bus as well as dial, and that is a five-minute check.

Monitoring, and what each package includes

One price per package, whichever panel ends up on the wall. Equipment is quoted for your building.

The three monitoring packages, and what each one includes Security $14.99 · Smart Security $16.99 · Smart Home $19.99 a month after the first year. First year $10.99, $12.99 and $14.99

Three packages, and the difference between them is the app and the automation — 24/7 ULC monitoring with police, fire and medical dispatch is in all three. Smart Security is where most people land: the app, the alerts and the cameras, which is what nearly everybody actually wanted. Smart Home is the only one with lights, locks and thermostats in it.

  • Alarm transport to the ULC station, with police, fire and medical dispatch
  • Daily supervision of the panel, and Abort/Cancel on a false alarm
  • Live operators at Lanvac’s ULC-listed station — Canadian, 24 hours, never an automated system

Not on this package: no Total Connect app, so no arming from your phone, no alerts, no cameras and no lights or locks.

Smart Security

Everything above, plus the app and cameras.

$12.99/ month
first year
$16.99
after that
Adds
  • Total Connect 2.0 — arm and disarm from anywhere
  • Alerts for alarms, trouble conditions and low batteries
  • Sensor activity on up to 50 devices, and ninety days of event history
  • Cameras and the video doorbell — depending on the camera, free on the First Alert app, or a monthly to have them in the same app as the alarm
  • Amazon Alexa and Google Home voice control

Not on this package: no automation. Z-Wave lights, plugs, switches and thermostats need Smart Home — they will not pair on this one. Covers one MotionViewer; more than that is Smart Home.

Gold

Smart Home

Everything above, plus the house.

$14.99/ month
first year
$19.99
after that
Adds
  • Lights, plugs, switches, locks and thermostats from the app
  • Smart Scenes — one button for everything at bedtime
  • Unlimited sensor activity monitoring, not the 50-device limit on Smart Security
  • LiftMaster garage doors, August locks and Honeywell thermostats

One price per package, whichever panel is on the wall, and both figures are above: the first year, and the price after it. No contract on any of them — month to month, thirty days’ notice. Cell backup, camera recording and 2-Way Voice are separate lines on top of whichever package you pick, and they are on your estimate with their own prices.

How dispatch works β€” and what it costs

Nobody gets sent to your house until we've tried to reach you.

An alarm signal does not put anyone in a vehicle on its own. The station calls your premises first and lets it ring six or seven times β€” answer, give your passcode, and it ends there, which is how most of them end. If nobody answers, or the passcode is wrong, what happens next is whatever your account says. Your keyholders are called after that, to attend and to be told what is already on its way.

  1. Signal received. The station has it within seconds.
  2. The operator calls your premises. Six or seven rings, and the alert lands in Total Connect. Answer with your passcode, or cancel it in the app, and it ends there β€” most do.
  3. No answer, or the wrong passcode. Now what happens is whatever your account says β€” the three below.
  4. Then your keyholders are called, in the order you set, so somebody can attend β€” and the alarm is held open for updates. That call is to tell them what is already on its way, not a second chance to call it off.

If nobody can be reached, there are three ways it can go β€” you choose

Guard callout β€” optional add-on
~$80

average, per callout, set by the guard company

  • A uniformed guard in a marked vehicle attends and checks the property
  • Finds nothing wrong β€” police are never dispatched, so no fee and nothing on your record
  • Finds something real β€” police attend a verified incident, not another alarm bell
  • Charged only when a guard is actually sent
Police β€” false alarm
~$180

plus tax, per occurrence, set by City of Ottawa by-law

  • Charged to the registration holder every time police attend a false alarm
  • Recorded against the address under the False Alarm Reduction By-law
  • Repeat occurrences are how a property loses police response altogether
Notify only β€” no dispatch
$0

no callout, no fee β€” nobody is sent

  • Fully monitored β€” every signal is handled by the station
  • Your whole contact list is called and your main emergency contacts are messaged
  • Nothing is ever dispatched β€” the alert and nothing else
  • Optional backstop: more than two alarm signals and nobody reachable gets called in β€” set the threshold, or turn it off

About those two prices β€” read this part. Neither service is ours. Guard response is provided by a licensed guard company and dispatched through the monitoring station; the police fee is set by City of Ottawa by-law. We do not set either price and both can change without notice. The $80 is an average β€” it varies by guard company, time of day and location. The $180 is the current by-law fee, plus applicable taxes. Both are shown here so you can weigh the decision, not as a quote. Guard response is an optional add-on, charged per occurrence, never included in a monthly plan, and we go through the current rate with you before it is added to your account. A guard attends, observes and reports β€” they are not police officers and do not intervene.
